Summary

As a companion to the iPad version, the FLAT Weather Clock for iPad app introduces an iPad application.

The iPhone version maintains the basic design concept but is developed using the latest SDK and written in Swift. It offers diverse ways of displaying weather information despite the iPhone's smaller screen size, making it more portable than the iPad. Consequently, the design had to be adapted to suit the different user interactions on each device. For instance, the clock function present in the iPad application was deemed redundant for the iPhone version, where users can easily access the time from the lock screen or status bar. The clock feature was included discreetly, accessible by tapping a designated button to not contradict the app's name.

Features

• The iPad app presents multiple functions on a single screen with a minimalist design and low information density. In contrast, the iPhone app utilizes tabs to organize information effectively. Users can access current weather conditions, weekly forecasts, and global weather data extracted from various sources. With support for dark mode since iOS 13, users can personalize their viewing experience.

Current Weather:

• The Current Tab offers real-time weather updates for the user's location along with a clock feature and an umbrella indicator for rain predictions. Tapping the + button reveals additional weather details and enables background map display that can be toggled on or off as needed.

Forecast:

• The Weekly Tab provides an up-to-16-day weather forecast with each day displayed on separate cards for easy browsing. Users can swipe horizontally to view upcoming days and vertically explore further details. Stay informed with the latest weather updates.

World Weather:

• The World Tab allows users to monitor weather conditions in 20 pre-selected cities globally. Future updates aim to offer customization options for city selection based on user preferences. For any suggestions or requests, users can reach out via email provided in the feedback section of the settings.

Customization Options:

• The final tab is dedicated to settings, enabling users to configure preferred display scales and time formats. Bug reports or feature requests are welcome via email through the feedback option, emphasizing the value placed on user input.
